Potential end users who learn about U.S. dehydrated potatoes at trade shows and seminars and who decide to incorporate dehy into a product don’t have to go it alone. TK Kuwahara with the U.S. Potato Board’s international dehy program says the board can help with one-on-one technical meetings.
Kuwahara: “And at a point where they would like more information or they need technical assistance we will come in and meet with them one-on-one to help them. If they have any issues we help them solve those issues. If they have questions we answer those questions. Basically these one-on-one trainings are really to help answer any questions they have and solve the issues or challenges that they may come up against when trying to integrate dehydrated potatoes into their formulations and new products.”
That’s what the USPB did for Dunkin Donuts in Thailand and Malaysia by providing a technical expert.
Kuwahara: “And they were able to use that information to integrate dehydrated potatoes into their specific formulation to achieve the results that they were looking for. And in the case of Dunkin Donuts they were looking for a softer type donut. And they also found some other benefits such as increased yield, which means increased profitability.”
And U.S. potato growers got a new customer for dehy.
