Last week, at the Fruit Logistica in Berlin, HZPC launched their new vegetable: Colourful Perupas! Colourful and tasty tubers with a WOW! feeling.

Because sometimes we forget what beautiful colours nature has given us. Luckily, the farmers in the Andes mountains preserved the wide range of colours, shapes and tastes of original potato species. With Perupa the original tastes and colours of ancient varieties found in the Andes are back on your plate.

Variation on the plate

HZPC's research has shown that professional chefs and home cooks are looking for variation, inspiration and taste. Perupas are the perfect answer to those demands.

HZPC's colourful range of Perupa varieties brings fun, variation, taste and health to the chef’s and consumer’s plates. Because of today's trend to eat less meat and more vegetables, people are looking for more variation on their plate.

New exciting vegetables like Perupa will make dinner a moment of joy.

New name, new image

These beautiful colourful tubers deserved more attention. By giving them a new name, we created a new image. These are not just coloured potatoes, they are colourful Perupas!

Perupa varieties

At the moment Perupas are available in 6 varieties: Magenta Love, Anya, Violet Queen, Blue Star, Violetta and Double Fun. All these varieties have their own characteristics in taste, colour or texture.

Social responsibility

In cooperation with the International Potato Centre (CIP) in Lima - Peru, HZPC is supporting a group of farmers in the Andes mountains in order to preserve the genetic variation of native potatoes.

Antioxidants

Antioxidants like carotenoids and anthocyanins are naturally available in a lot of fruits and vegetables, also in Perupas.

The variety Violet Queen Perupa, for example, contains a significant amount of anthocyanins.

Some comparisons with other foods are shown in the illustration below.
