Americana Foods has announced the opening of a new office in Jeddah, marking a new milestone in the company's expansion in Saudi Arabia and reinforcing its position in one of the Middle East’s fastest-growing markets for frozen food products, including frozen potato items.

The company operates both quick-service restaurant (QSR) brands and large-scale food manufacturing and distribution businesses. It is considered one of the leading food producers in the region, with a portfolio that includes frozen French fries and other value-added potato products supplied to foodservice and retail channels.

The move represents a transition from a factory-based office to a dedicated corporate environment, reflecting the evolution of its business and operational standards.

Expansion closely tied to new frozen French fry processing capacity

The new office strengthens Americana Foods' ability to support its people, operations, and long-term ambitions in the Saudi market, in alignment with the objectives of Vision 2030. The expansion comes at a time when the company is significantly increasing its involvement in potato processing through a joint venture with Farm Frites, a global specialist in frozen potato products.

Together, the companies are investing approximately USD 100 million in a state-of-the-art frozen French fries processing plant in Riyadh, located in Sudair Industrial and Business City. The facility, expected to be operational in early 2026, will:

  • Produce frozen French fries and specialty potato products
  • Have an initial production capacity of around 75,000 metric tons annually
  • Use advanced processing technology and modern equipment

This marks the second joint venture between Americana and Farm Frites in the MENA region, building on a long-standing partnership in Egypt.

Strategic implications for the potato industry

The investment significantly strengthens local processing capacity in Saudi Arabia and positions Americana Foods as a key player in the regional frozen potato value chain. Once operational, the joint venture is expected to make the partners among the largest producers of frozen French fries in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA). The development has several implications for the global potato industry: Shift toward local production The plant supports Saudi Arabia’s strategy to reduce reliance on imported frozen potato products and increase domestic processing.

Opportunities for potato growers The project is expected to stimulate local potato cultivation and improve agricultural practices through closer integration with processors. Increased demand for processing technology and inputs The scale and sophistication of the facility highlight growing demand for advanced processing lines, storage, and cold chain infrastructure.

Rising demand for frozen potato products in the region

Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf region are experiencing sustained growth in demand for frozen French fries and potato-based convenience products, driven by:

  • Expansion of international QSR chains
  • A young and urbanizing population
  • Increasing preference for convenience foods

Americana Foods plays a central role in supplying this demand through its integrated manufacturing and distribution network.

Strengthening regional presence

Americana Foods described the new office as part of its ongoing growth journey in Saudi Arabia and a step toward further expansion in the region.

For stakeholders across the potato value chain—from growers and processors to equipment suppliers—this development highlights the increasing strategic importance of the Middle East as a growth market for frozen potato products. The combination of corporate expansion and new large-scale processing capacity underscores a broader shift toward regional production, with Saudi Arabia emerging as a key hub in the global frozen potato industry.
