CEO of Royal HZPC Group, Hans Huistra, participated in a high-level India–Netherlands CEO Round Table held in The Hague during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the Netherlands. The meeting, organized by VNO-NCW, focused on strengthening cooperation in agriculture, seed innovation, and sustainable food systems.

Strong India Growth Journey Since 2014 and Impact on Agriculture

Hans Huistra highlighted that HZPC has been active in India since 2014 and has witnessed strong and consistent growth in the market. He acknowledged the role of India’s agricultural development initiatives under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, noting significant progress in the sector.

He emphasized that HZPC has introduced multiple advanced potato varieties in India, including leading varieties supporting the French fries export segment, particularly in Gujarat, with growing expansion into Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh. He also highlighted the successful introduction of the “Colomba” variety, which has provided Indian farmers with improved yields and premium value opportunities.

Future Expansion, Research Investment, and Export Opportunities

Outlining future plans, Hans Huistra stated that HZPC aims to continue its double-digit growth trajectory in India achieved over the past decade. The company plans to further expand research and development activities in the country to strengthen local innovation and farmer support. 

He also noted potential opportunities to explore exporting HZPC varieties from India in the future, further strengthening India’s position in the global seed and agricultural value chain. 

The dialogue reinforced growing India–Netherlands collaboration in agriculture, with a shared focus on innovation, sustainability, and long-term sector development.
