Company Description

Agrico is a potato industry cooperative located in the Netherlands that develops, produces, and distributes seed potatoes and potato cultivars across the world. The firm is owned by a network of producers and operates across the whole value chain, from breeding and research to worldwide marketing, servicing consumers in over 80 countries.

What distinguishes Agrico is its grower-led organization, in which farmers are directly involved in variety development and production. This helps to guarantee that new potato varieties are practical, flexible, and in line with both real-world field circumstances and market demands.

Agrico offers a wide range of potato varieties tailored to different end uses and growing environments:

  • Seed Potatoes for commercial farming
  • Processing Varieties (French fries, chips, flakes, starch)
  • Table Potatoes for fresh consumption and retail markets
  • Early and Maincrop Varieties
  • Specialty Varieties (including colored and niche potatoes)
  • High dry matter and processing-efficient varieties
  • Disease-resistant and climate-resilient varieties

These types are designed to fulfill the demands of processors, merchants, and farmers who want consistent production, quality, and storage performance.

Agrico makes major investments in research and innovation through its specialized breeding programs and subsidiaries:

  • Agrico Research focuses on generating novel potato varieties with increased yields, disease resistance, and climatic tolerance.
  • Agrico BioSelect specializes in organic potato breeding and seed manufacturing.
  • Agrico España, Agrico Nordic, Agrico Polska, and other regional offices provide local markets with tailored variety and distribution.
  • In-vitro and micro tuber production provides high-quality starting material for worldwide seed initiatives.

This structure enables Agrico to operate worldwide and locally, tailoring its solutions to regional farming circumstances and market demands.

Agrico plays an important role in linking producers, processors, and markets by delivering dependable seed solutions and constantly producing new kinds. Its portfolio offers a wide variety of applications, from fresh consumption to industrial processing, making it important to industries such as snacks, frozen foods, and ingredients.

Agrico is a Dutch farmers cooperative of over 1,300 specialist potato growers, each of whom devotes the greatest possible care to your product, to ensure you a profitable future. Together, they produce in excess of one million tonnes of seed and ware potatoes per year to be marketed by Agrico.
